The first recording today starts with the end of Zombie Hotel.
There’s a trail for Evacuation to the Manorhouse.
Then, it’s an episode of Dinosapien – Camp Visitors. You know, Primeval for kids. (Although my kids watched Primeval too).
Lauren is trying to reassure the dinosaur Eno that she’s safe, but a previous encounter with poachers has made him scared. Maybe hotdogs will help.
She finds a page of her father’s notebook about “Dinosapien Theory”. The theory that if the dinosaurs didn’t die out they might have developed human intelligence.
Two of the younger kids have got a spy kit.
The creepy Dr Aikens interrupts Lauren and her mother. Apparently he’s never been in this office before. “So, this was Alan’s office. Lovely space. A person could really work in an office like this.”
Eno gets hassled by the diggers.
Apparently, spying involves spraying silly string over Courtney. Except it’s a distraction so they can plant a bug on her.
The kids are preparing for a cook-out, but Eno finds the food and starts eating it.
Lauren gets Courtney to help her. “We have an Eno problem.” The two kids are listening. “What’s an Eno?” “I don’t know. Why?” “Because Lauren just said they had an Eno problem. Then she ran off with Courtney.” “This is important information, Nelson.” “It is?” “Think about it. Why are the counsellors always whispering to each other and going off into the woods?” “Because they’re hiding something?” “That’s right. So what if Eno is some kind of secret password?” “That’s gotta be it.”
Lauren and Courtney try laying a trail of hotdogs to lead Eno away from camp but Courtney thinks it’s a terrible idea, and goes back. Naturally, she meets Eno.
She placates him with a couple of hotdogs, then starts blowing her whistle. He runs off but Courtney doesn’t realise it’s because there’s a digger behind her. Soon she’s running too. This programme is distressing me, not because of the imminent threat of dinosaur carnage, but because of all the hotdogs being strewn around the place. It’s such a waste.
One of the diggers finds the microphone that fell out of Courtney’s hood. Which he then swallows.
Lauren finds Courtney, but they are both found by a digger. But all he does is grabs Courtney’s whistle. Then Lauren sprays him with the silly string and he walks backwards over a ledge.
I think there’s way too much volleyball in this dinosaur show.
Courtney tells Lauren that she should tell everyone about Eno because it’s not safe.
Dr Aikens talks to the kids, and they tell him about “Eno”, the secret password.
Courtney is going to tell Lauren’s mum about Eno, but before she can, her mum tells her “And I want to thank you because, well, your being here is exactly what Lauren needs. It’s been hard for her since her father died. Anyway, what did you want to tell me?” “Oh, nothing. Um, just that, uh, Lauren, uh, she wanted you to save her some food.”
Eno finds Lauren, and he’s interested in the picture from her dad’s notebook. She tells him it’s a bird, mimes flying, and he looks around and points at a bird in a tree. Then mimics the bird call. “You do understand. My dad was right. You’re a dino sapien.”
Media Centre Description: Drama. Dinosapien tells the story of 15 year-old Lauren, whose father mysteriously disappeared on a fossil expedition. Lauren must protect Eno, an intelligent dinosaur, from the dangerous Diggers – dinosaurs that are hunting Eno and trying to kill him – and from the mysterious paleontologist Dr. Clive Aikens who is trying to track down Eno for his own purposes. Lauren befriends Eno by offering him some hot dogs. This only whets his appetite and he devours all the food for a cook-out.

The next recording is a repeat of last week’s Primeval.
Media Centre Description: An anomaly opens underwater, dragging a teenage boy into a flooded drain. During a frantic search for the boy, the team are confronted by some sinister creatures from the future – strong and intelligent, the mermaid-like beings are a formidable bunch, giving the team their toughest challenge yet. Will everyone survive?

This recording stops with the start of The Living Daylights.
The next recording is a new episode of Primeval, and I’ve missed the very start. A young girl finds an anomaly looking for her dog. When she gets to the other side, she can hear her dog and calls for it. “Sprat! I don’t think we belong here.” Very Wizard of Oz.
Connor’s anomaly detector goes off, then it crashes. When he reboots and “runs a full diagnostic” he finds it’s contaminated with spyware “Allowing the user to switch the feed from here… to wherever they are.” “And cut us out of the loop.” “It must be that guy. The cleaner.”
But we see Oliver Leek in his car looking at the anomaly location, then taking a team to its location.
His team go through. They see the little girl in the distance, shouting and waving at them. But their leader, “The Cleaner”, tells them to concentrate on their mission. Then we hear what the girl’s shouting. “Get off the sand! I’m trying to save you! Idiots!”
Helen drops in on Stephen again. She’s stirring shit between him and Cutter, hinting at a hidden agenda, and implying Cutter’s involved. “Helen, tell me what this is about.” “I don’t know much. I just know that they have another agenda that you don’t know about.” “Who does? You mean Lester?” “I don’t know who’s behind it. But if the shoe fits…”
Cutter and Jenny find the anomaly. Leek keeps a low profile as his men haven’t returned. As they approach, the girl’s dog runs out at them. I’d just assumed the dog had been eaten. Jenny, incidentally, is dressed for her engagement party.
Connor has a new gizmo, a remote piloted camera.
Stephen and Cutter go through to get the girl. They find a few bugs which are not, despite what Connor said, bug sized.
Jenny finds the girl’s stepfather.
Cutter and Stephen finds the abandoned gear of the soldiers. Their night vision goggles recorded what happened. It looks like they’re all dead.
The girl tries to warn them to get to the rocks. They have to outrun something large, with claws, chasing them to reach where she is. “You’re welcome” she says. I really love her.
They get close to the anomaly, but they would have to cross the sand which is currently alive with creatures.
Back on the other side, a large millipede creature gets out of one of the recovered cat boxes, and finds its way into a cafe with a ball pit.
They get the creature back to the anomaly, but they realise it’s suddenly closing, before they can warn Cutter and Stephen.
There’s a sombre meeting at the ARC. “What are the chances of it reopening?” “Some do. Some don’t.” “But it could be tomorrow.” “It could be a thousand years’ time. We just don’t know. That’s the problem.” “I’m sorry, James. We may have to face the fact that we’ve lost them.” Lester is his usual serious self. Referring to Abby and Connor he says “Daphne and Scrappy will have to take charge of the anomaly operation.”
Connor breaks up with Caroline by text. She’s in the flat when she receives it. She starts calling for Rex. “There you are.” I hope he eats her.
She really is the worst. Are they setting her up so that when she gets eaten, the audience won’t be too sad? I can’t remember.
Back in the past, Cutter, Stephen and Taylor are walking, hoping for a signal on Cutter’s anomaly detector. Stephen spots a flash of light in the distance. Then shortly afterwards, Cutter’s detector goes ping. But then a sandstorm is suddenly whipped up, and Cutter drops the detector while scrambling for cover.
Lester and Leek have a deeply emotional conversation on the loss of Cutter and Stephen. “Any news?” “Um, no. Sorry, sir. Terrible loss. Such a brilliant man. And of course, a good friend.” “You’re out of your mind. Cutter and I loathed each other.” “Oh, I didn’t realize.” “If there’s one thing I despise more than stupidity, it’s sentimentality.”
After the storm, Cutter finds the detector, and they start following it when then encounter The Cleaner, who demands the detector and their water.
But he’s grabbed by one of the undersand creatures, and Cutter gets his gun. Stephen tries to get him to tell them who he’s working for. “It was Lester wasn’t it?” “I’m a professional. I don’t talk. Ever” he says before being dragged under the sand.
They make their way across the sand, trying to be quiet, but Stephen gets grabbed and pulled under. Taylor starts screaming and jumping on the sand while makes the creature come out, still holding Stephen.
The creature is making a lot of noise which attracts another one. They ignore the humans and start fighting, giving them a chance to get away.
Cutter takes one of them on.
They get to the top of the dune, see an anomaly on the other side, and Stephen finds a handily discarded create carapace that they can use for a sledge down the dune. I’ve done this myself in Saudi Arabia. Not while being chased by a giant insect thing, though.
They make it through the anomaly, but to where or when. “Any guesses where we are?” “Well, the air’s normal. Woodland looks familiar, so I guess it’s got to be within the last few thousand years.” Then they come across a makeshift shelter, and rudimentary tools. “Hey, look. Middle palaeolithic. Stephen, we’ve got to get away from here.” Then a caveman looking bloke appears wearing animal skins. Cutter punches him out and he falls, revealing some anachronistic underwear. “That don’t look right.” “I think I just punched an actor.”
Connor and Abby find them, and they go back to meet Lester. Cutter has the night vision goggles with the footage of the mercenaries on it. “Welcome to the Lost World Adventure Park. Complete with cavemen, concrete dinosaurs, and water slides. You know, I never thought I’d say this, but given the choice between you and Connor, I’m very glad to have you back. Of course, when we picked up the anomaly, we had no idea what might come through it. You are lucky we don’t shoot on sight. Well, I better go and soothe your caveman. Let’s hope the palaeolithic was short on ambulance chasing lawyers.”
Taylor is reunited with her stepfather. “You’re okay. God, I was so worried. If anything had happened to you.” “You’re upset?” “Of course I’m upset. I love you. Listen, Taylor, I… I miss your mum too, yeah?” “Yeah. I know. Sorry, Steve. Guess what, Steve? I’ve been back millions of years in the past, and almost got eaten by giant scorpions.” “Of course you have, darling. Of course you have.”
“I thought I was never going to see you again.” “Yeah? I bet you were devastated.” “Inconsolable.”
Taylor pops her head round the door. “Oi you? Can I come and work with you when I leave school?” “All right. You’ll be pretty good at it.” “See ya.”
Abby discovers the mess that Caroline left in the apartment. “Where’s Rex?”
Back at the ARC, Cutter gets a coffee, then discovers that someone has taken the night vision goggles from his desk. I wouldn’t have let them out of my sight, and would probably have tried to copy the footage onto a safe computer or hard drive before I did anything else.
Media Centre Description: When a young girl chases her dog through an anomaly she finds herself trapped in a dangerous new world of desert and twinkling stars. Her amazement quickly turns to panic when something inside the sand rises up – giant Silurian scorpions! Cutter and Stephen set out to rescue her but when the anomaly closes all three of them get marooned on the other side. Will they ever be able to find their way home?

After this, the recording finishes after the start of Dancing On Ice: Make Me a Star.
The next recording starts with the end of Duel. This does look like a two-player Who Wants to Be A Millionaire.
Then, it’s another episode of Thank God You’re Here. Paul Merton presents the semi-improvised comedy show.
The celebrities playing today are Richard Wilson.
Claudia Winkleman.
Lee Mack.
And Rufus Hound.
Here’s the whole episode.
