Just the one recording today, and it’s The Simpsons – ‘Scuse Me While I Miss the Sky. Eric Idle plays a documentary maker who’s making a film about Springfield Elementary.
All the cool kids at school have started stealing hood ornaments from cars.
After being accused of being a dilletante by Eric Idle, Lisa visits the museum to see if she can choose something to concentrate on, and a visit to the planetarium makes her choose astronomy.
But the light pollution in Springfield is destroying the night sky.
She raises a petition to reduce the light pollution, and Mayor Quimby turns down the lights.
But the darkness lets the young vandals take all the hood ornaments from the cars.
Bart wants to get the ornament from the hood of the gangster Fat Tony’s car.
The darkness leads to protests.
So Mayor Quimby flip-flops and turns the lights to full brightness.
After a week, the permanent light is driving people mad. Bart and Lisa break into the power plant with Homer’s help and overload the grid.
For some reason, this action incites an angry mob.
But in the dark they can see a meteor shower, and everyone’s happy again.
