Welcome to April 2008.
I say this because I keep track of how many recordings I have in each month, so as it rolls around I like to take note of how much there is this month. Most months seem to hover around 3 days of continuous recording, although February and March wer quite a lot higher, both being over 4 days, with march being closer to 5 days.
April 2008 tells me there’s 8 days 4 hours of recordings. That’s more than a quarter of a whole month.
I think a lot of this will be explained by more copies of the same recordings, since this month is when Doctor Who starts a new series, but frankly it’s scary to see the schedule. I might need to be a little less detailed about a lot of recordings just to get through them.
But today isn’t too bad.
The first recording starts with the end of Mysti.
There’s a trail for The Slammer.
Then another new episode of M.I. High – Spy Animals.
A villain has bugged MI9 headquarters, and they’ve learned that spies are hidden at St Hope’s School. He gives this information to the Grandmaster, hoping to be recruited into SKUL. He hangs around the school gates in an ice cream van. Not problematic at all, is it?
He sends in a tortoise which fires truth serum.
This makes Ms Templeman reveal her love for Lenny.
Daisy is being chased by remote controlled flies, which are intent on downloading her brain, which would wipe it. Rose tells her how to reconfigure her radio pencil to repel the flies.
They locate the villain in his ice cream van. Blane uses a sonic blast badge to disrupt it.
Then Rose changes the target to the villain. Which seems a bit harsh since it wipes his brain, although they try to minimise the horror of this. “The files – did they brainwash him?” “Yeah, but I think he liked it.” That’s OK then.
Media Centre Description: Children’s spy drama. A mad inventor and his modified animals are determined to sniff out the school spies. Fenton sends in spy-animals to unearth the Grand Master’s competition, but he assumes the teachers are the secret agents. Armed with truth serum darts, a troublesome tortoise gets the teachers saying what’s on their mind, but when a dart accidentally hits Daisy, MI9’s cover is blown.

The recording stops with the start of Freefonix.
The next recording starts with the end of The Paul O’Grady Show.
They’re doing cup stacking. I remember that.
Guests are KT Tunstall.
And Les Dennis.
Next, it’s The Simpsons – Lisa the Skeptic. On an archaeological dig, Lisa digs up what looks like a skeleton of an angel.
Homer grabs it and sets up a shrine.
There’s a guest appearance from actual scientist Stephen Jay Gould.
“Science? What science ever done for us? TV off.” “Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends.” “Well, I say there are some things we don’t want to know. Important things.” “Enough talk. It’s smashing time.”
The angel disappears from Homer’s garage, and appears on a hill, with a message: “The End Will Come At Sundown”.
The town assume it’s the apocalypse, and all gather.
But it’s all a publicity stunt by the local shopping mall.
Media Centre Description: Springfield’s townspeople believe Lisa has unearthed the fossilised remains of an angel.
Recorded from Channel 4 on Tuesday 1st April 2008 17:58
After this, the recording stops with the start of Hollyoaks.
The next recording is a repeat of Star Trek: The Next Generation – Lonely Among Us.
Media Centre Description: The crew of the Enterprise try to solve the mystery of the death of Asst Chief Engineer Singh – and why have the characters of Lt Worf, Dr Crusher and the Captain changed so much?
Recorded from Virgin1 on Tuesday 1st April 2008 19:58
The recording stops with the start of an episode of American Inventor.
The next recording is another repeat, of Doctor Who – The Christmas Invasion.
Media Centre Description: Cosmic adventures with the Gallifreyan Timelord, in a Christmas special starring David Tennant as the new Doctor. The Tardis falls to Earth on Christmas Eve, bringing the new Doctor home to Rose’s family. But while his regeneration goes wrong, Santa-shaped assassins and deadly Christmas trees herald the approach of a terrible danger from the stars. The Sycorax are coming, and without the Doctor, the human race is helpless.

After this, there’s another teaser for the new series of Doctor Who.
There’s a trail for Pullong.
And 60 Seconds of news.
Then the recording stops with the start of Little Britain.
The final recording today starts with the end of a signed edition of Panorama.
There’s a trail for Holby Blue and one for Dan Cruickshank’s Adventures in Architecture.
Then it’s a signed repeat of Life in Cold Blood – Sophisticated Serpents.
Media Centre Description: David Attenborough reveals the fascinating lives of snakes, the most misunderstood group of reptiles. A CCTV stakeout of wild rattlesnakes hunting shows, for the first time, what sophisticated predators they truly are. Attenborough is also on the receiving end of a spitting cobra’s chemical weapons system, while the surprisingly beautiful and tender side of snakes is displayed in the sinuous courtship of kingsnakes, and the water birth of 15 beautiful yellow anaconda babies.
