The first recording today starts with the end of Mysti.
There’s a trail for The Slammer.
Then there’s another episode of M.I. High – Eyes on their Stars (wrongly listed by Media Centre as ‘Eyes on the Stars’ which isn’t as funny).
Steve Furst plays villain Tony Frisco, who’s using a boy band to turn children into zombies who will buy his band’s record.
Rose is playing Tuba for a school performance, although how a tuba, a clarinet and a violin are supposed to play Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony I don’t know. They’re not helped by Ms Templeman giving them a count of three for a piece written in 4/4 time.
While I’m being picky, Blane is reading a teen magazine to find out about Crush, the boy band. “Check this out. Folkestone, Lowestoft, Bury St Edmunds. Ring any bells? The same towns where the teen zombie attacks occurred. The next gig is the biggest one on tour. Wembley, the 24th. But that’s today?” But there’s five gigs mentioned. A misspelled “Folkstone”, Lowestoft, “Bury Street” and “Edmonds” as well as Wembley. So somewhere between the script and the graphics department, “Bury St Edmunds” became “Bury Street” and “Edmunds”. And I can’t read all the text in the article, but I’m fairly sure it’s from an article about McFly, as the names Tom, Dougie and Harry are featured.
The team have to redirect the bus to the school using these incredibly convincing signs.
I was going to complain about how the three members of the band look identical, but then I saw they’re all brothers, so I guess I can forgive that.
Once more a TV show makes a joke about recorders being terrible musical instruments. As someone who once played Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks in an ad hoc recorder consort, I can tell you they can sound lovely.
Blane and Rose find a clip of Tony Frisco in Pop Factor, getting the lowest score ever and vowing his revenge on the music industry.
Daisy talks to the band, and gets a look at the words of the song they sing live. Rose works out there’s subliminal messaging in there.
Blane and Tony Frisco battle with various instruments.
The band perform their song, and it turns the audience into zombies.
Rose has to compose and then sing an antidote song, after spending the whole episode being nervous about performing in public.
After everything’s sorted, Rose has swapped the Tuba for a clarinet, which is very sensible.
Media Centre Description: Children’s spy drama. Zombie kids are on the rampage, ransacking music stores, and M.I.9 suspect boy-band Crush. Mega-fan Daisy goes undercover to examine their hypnotising methods. The team’s investigations turn to Crush’s manager, failed Pop-Factor contestant Tony Frisco. However, the school soon becomes seduced by Crush’s naff lyrics. Can Rose perform an antidote song before the bell rings or will St. Hope’s become a school for bad-taste zombies?

After this, there’s a trail for the M.I. High website. Then the recording stops with the start of Freefonix.
The next recording starts with the end of Great British Menu.
There’s a trail for Horizon: How Does Your Memory Work?.
And a new one for Gavin and Stacey.
There’s also the Doctor Who teaser.
Then, it’s a repeat of Torchwood – Adrift.
Media Centre Description: Science-fiction crime drama series set in Cardiff. When a local teenager disappears Gwen is drawn into an investigation that reveals a darker side of Torchwood. Hundreds of people have disappeared without trace, but why is Jack obstructing attempts to find them? The answer seems to lie in the rift, and as Gwen follows the trail she makes a shocking discovery.

After this, there’s trails for Horizon, Eastenders and Single Mums’ Mansion.
Then an episode of Torchwood: Declassified starts.
The next recording overlaps with the previous one, so it’s the whole Torchwood: Declassified episode.
Director Mark Everest: “People do go missing all the time. Sometimes it’s children but it’s not always children, it’s people of all ages and I think to tackle that in an episode like this was quite a brave thing to do.”
Chris Chibnall: “I think Gwen’s become stronger since she joined Torchwood. I think she has hardened because of what she’s seen, she has become more used to dealing with shocking occurrences.”
Russell T Davies: “A lot of the whole series of, two series of Torchwood have been the evolution of Gwen Cooper, starting out as wide eyed innocent, happy with boyfriend, normal life, then thrown in the deep end out of her depth.”
Eve Myles: “She’s seen the horrificness of what’s happened to a human being, to a person, to somebody like you and I. She’s not dealing with this, she’s not dealing with alien artefacts or things that go into a path of smoke or disappear.”
We also get to hear a lot from Tom Price as PC Andy, so that’s nice.
Richard Stokes: “There was a risk, I think, at the end of series one that we were thinking of killing him off and thank goodness we didn’t, we saved him because we just thought he’s great comic value and so we always wanted to play more of his character with somebody in series two.”
We see actor Bob Hugh being made up for his character.
Ruth Jones: “It was incredible seeing Bob’s makeup. It was absolutely fantastic, but very, very gruesome, and I’m incredibly squeamish. The actual makeup itself was quite soft to the touch, because I sort of reached out and touched his face at one point. It was quite squidgy.”
Here’s the episode.
Media Centre Description: Behind the scenes at the Sci-fi drama. Eve Myles talks about how her character Gwen Cooper has changed. Casting director Andy Pryor pays tribute to the series’ guest stars.

After this, it looks like the presentation team couldn’t get “Up Next” graphics done in time. Very poor.
Then the recording stops with the start of American Inventor.
The next recording starts with a trail for the finale of Ashes to Ashes.
There’s also an Eastenders trail.
Then it’s a signed repeat of Life in Cold Blood – Dragons of the Dry.
Media Centre Description: David Attenborough reveals the surprising truth about the cold-blooded lives of reptiles and amphibians, including jacky lizards that wave, wrestling beaded lizards and the largest chameleons in the world jousting in the trees. He also comes across the world’s smallest chameleon, which is no bigger than his thumb nail, and the biggest lizard in Australia as he traces their colonisation of the earth to become the dragons of the dry.
